There's a Secret Tribute to the

Now-Defunct Country Bear Jamboree at Disneyland

Did you know the Country Bear Jamboree was originally meant to be an attraction in a Disney-themed California Ski Resort? In the 1960s, Walt Disney planned to open the Disney Mineral King Ski resort and wanted fun entertainment for his guests. An animatronic bear band was exactly what he envisioned.

Unfortunately, (or not), environmentalists shut down the idea of Disney building in Mineral King Valley and he Country Bears ended up in the Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and Tokyo Disneyland parks.

While the Country Bear Jamboree at Walt Disney World recently received a Disney-fied musical refurbishment, the version at Disneyland in California closed in September of 2001 with no plans to reopen. That doesn't mean there still isn't some residual love for the attraction, though.

The Disneyland version was replaced with a new attraction - The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Imagineers being the creative geniuses they are decided to place an inconspicuous homage to the Country Bears attraction inside the ride.

When you exit the Heffalumps and Woozles room and enter the dreamscape of Pooh eating an unlimited amount honey, look backward and you'll see the heads of Max, Buff, and Melvin, three characters from the Jamboree.

Similarly, at the Magic Kingdom, when the Winnie the Pooh attraction replaced Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, a photo featuring Mr. Toad handing over the deed of Toad Hall to Owl, was placed inconspicuously in Owl's House, symbolizing the change.
